Letter from Principal Haire:
School Re-opening updateHello parents & students -
I hope you and your child(ren) are having an enjoyable summer. We are busy at St. Mary’s getting ready for the upcoming year with hopes that the school year will be in-person. We are working with both the public school and our diocesan schools to develop plans for scenarios laid out by the Minnesota Department of Health(MDH) and the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE). These scenarios include in-person learning, a hybrid of some in-person and some distance learning, and all distance learning. Governor WaIz’s Office, in consultation with the MDH and MDE, will determine and announce the scenario model under which schools may reopen for the 2020-2021 school year based on state COVID-19 metrics by the week of July 27.
I can't guarantee anything at this point because the ultimate decision will come from Bishop Kettler and Governor Walz. What I can tell you is that as a school we are set up very well because of student class size and room sizes/space to have our students back in school full time this Fall even if the hybrid scenario (50% capacity, social distancing, etc.) is mandated. Of course safety of the students, staff, and all who enter our building will be top priority.
We understand that each family situation is different. As a faith community we will be respectful of your concerns and will do our best to accommodate individual needs. I will update you when more information becomes available. If you have concerns, suggestions, or questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.
May God bless your family,
